Custom Headsets

Headset manufacturers can not address all application needs therefore Davidson Communications will design and build headsets,  intercom systems, and wiring harnesses to meet specific needs. All custom headsets have a connector to attach a radio specific adapter cord. The headset is not complete without the cord to the radio.

Throat mic headsets

Throat Mic Headsets

A production David Clark headset is modified it to accept a high-spec throat mic designed and built in USA.

Throat microphones are used when a boom mounted mic will not physically fit or will be exposed to environmental conditions which impeded its performance. Examples:

  • Breathing masks covering the mouth
  • Hazmat suits
  • Severe winter conditions where ice would build up on the mic
Cup Mic Headsets

Cup Mic Headsets for Ultra-high Noise Situations

These headsets can be configured for use with radios or wired intercoms. We can also build the headset to work with both radio and wired intercoms. Examples:

  • Flight line operations, military and commercial
  • Motorsports events where noise is extremely high
Dual earcup single-sided headsets

Dual Earcup Single-sided Headsets

When you must wear headgear and need to be aware of surrounding noise, we modify a production David Clark (Behind-the-Head) style headset by milling slots in one earcup. A switch is added to turn the speaker in the slotted earcup on or off. We can make this modification to any David Clark dual-sided headset*. David Clark builds a production headset with slots in one earcup but does not include a speaker in the slotted earcup. Many customers choose to hear in both ears but need some ambient noise.

*Intrinsically safe headsets (H67xx series) can not be modified without voiding the intrinsically safe rating.

Railroad headsets with radio interface

Railroad Headsets with Radio Interface

Our Ritron Clean-cab radio can have one or more headsets and the factory supplied handset working at the same time…no need to plug and unplug cables to switch from handset to headset.

There are 2 approaches to the Ritron Clean Cab headset interface.

  1. Radio interface headset station

This module interfaces with the radio via heavy duty cables and mounts in a convenient location where the user can plug in a headset; Usually

a H3442 H3442 or  H3432 H3432

Also available are the following:

H3432 H3432H3441 with slotted dome H3441

  1. Belt Station with momentary Push-To-Talk (PTT)

belt station

The belt station approach allows movement throughout the cab with a convenient PTT on the belt. Volume control is also on the belt station.

The headset for this application is the H10-66.
